The value of Vietnamese rice in the global market experienced an increase of 3-8 USD per tonne last week, resulting in Vietnam reclaiming the top position in terms of rice export prices. The Vietnam Food Association (VFA) reported this positive development.

The association revealed that the price of Vietnamese 5% broken rice is now 585 USD per tonne, surpassing Thailand’s price by 3 USD per tonne and Pakistan’s by 10 USD per tonne.

When it comes to 25% broken rice, the price for Vietnamese rice comes in at 555 USD per tonne, which is 23 USD higher than Thailand’s and 13 USD higher than Pakistan’s.

Despite staying stable at 470 USD per tonne, Vietnam’s 100% broken rice is still more expensive than Thailand’s and Pakistan’s by 21 USD and 25 USD per tonne, respectively.

This increase in Vietnamese rice prices demonstrates the competitiveness of the country’s rice exports in the international market. It also serves as good news for rice exporters in Vietnam.

The rise in prices is a positive development for Vietnam’s rice industry, which has been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The country has been making efforts to maintain its position as one of the leading rice exporters in the world.
