Port Qasim sees increased shipping activity

KARACHI, Apr 30 (APP): Port Qasim Authority (PQA) witnessed busy maritime activity as several ships arrived to load and unload various goods. The MSC Antigua, Majestic Noor, and Advantage Paradise arrived at the Container Terminal, Grain Terminal, and Liquid Terminal respectively to handle containers, rice, and gas oil.

In addition to these ships, the MSC Anchorage, Akij Moon, and Lila Confidence also arrived at the outer anchorage of the port to load and unload containers, cement, and chemicals.

During the last 24 hours, a total of eight ships were engaged at PQA berths. Of these, the Milaha Qatar, Bitumen Kosei, and MSC Antigua sailed out to sea on Tuesday morning, while the Golde Trader is expected to sail this afternoon.

In terms of cargo volume, a total of 79,975 tonnes of cargo was handled at the port during the last 24 hours. This included 62,366 tonnes of imported cargo and 17,609 tonnes of export cargo. Notably, 1,466 containers were handled, with 636 TEUs (Twenty-Foot Equivalent Units) of imports and 830 TEUs of exports.

At the Outer Anchorage of Port Qasim, there are currently four ships. Three of these, namely Lila Confidence, FSM, and MSC Anchorage, are carrying chemicals, LPG, containers, and coal, and are expected to take berths at MW-1, EVTL, QICT, and PIBT on Tuesday, April 30, 2024. Additionally, three more ships, Maersk Cairo, Xpress Kaveri, and Lusail, carrying containers and LNG, are due to arrive at Port Qasim on Wednesday.
