russia: reap confirms no ban on pakistani rice
Rice Exporters Association of Pakistan Confirms Normal Trade with Russia Amidst Reports of Ban
The Rice Exporters Association of Pakistan (REAP) has stated that trade with Russia is currently unaffected and there is no official ban on Pakistani rice imposed by Russian authorities, contrary to recent reports.
Chela Ram Kewlani, Chairman of REAP, along with Haseeb Ali Khan, Senior Vice Chairman of REAP, have thoroughly investigated the issue surrounding the Russian consignment from Pakistan.
According to them, the exporter has followed all the necessary protocols during the shipment to Russia. They mentioned that a minor issue had occurred due to the long transit time, as shipments from Pakistan were avoiding the Red Sea channel and taking an alternate shipping route, which was longer. The goods were shipped from Pakistan on 10th January 2024 and received on March 15, 2024.
“All protocols for the export of rice to Russia have been followed and fulfilled by the exporters, ensuring that there is no chance for infestation to survive or be present at the load port,” stated Kewlani and Khan.
It is important to note that REAP officials have confirmed that trade with Russia remains normal, with no news of a ban being received from Russian authorities.
Recently, Russia issued a warning to Pakistan, threatening to impose a ban on rice imports if certain phytosanitary concerns are not adequately addressed.
In conclusion, contrary to reports, the Rice Exporters Association of Pakistan affirms that trade with Russia is ongoing and that there is currently no ban on Pakistani rice from Russian authorities.
