Message from CM Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Besakhi
Lahore, APR 14 /DNA/ – Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, highlighted the significance of Besakhi in Punjab’s culture and extended her heartfelt greetings to all on this joyous occasion. Besakhi, a festival filled with happiness, holds a special place in Punjab’s heritage. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif also expressed her warm wishes to the Sikh community who has traveled to Punjab to celebrate this festival.
She emphasized her pride in being a Punjabi alongside her identity as a Pakistani. The spirit of Punjab resides in her heart, and she believes that every person in Punjab shares the same joy and happiness of Besakhi. She concluded her message by praying that the blessings of Besakhi remain perpetual.
Besakhi marks the start of the wheat harvest season, symbolized by the golden crop cut with sickles to the beat of drums. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif announced the official celebration of Besakhi in Punjab. Special ceremonies and events have been organized in Hasan Abdal, Nankana Sahib, Kartarpur, and Lahore, welcoming Sikh pilgrims from all corners of the world to partake in the festivities.
She stressed the government’s focus on providing the best environment and facilities for Sikh pilgrims to engage in their religious and cultural tourism in Punjab. The aim is to ensure a memorable experience for the Sikh community visiting the region.
