Belarus President’s Imminent Visit to Pakistan, Confirms Envoy

Belarusian Ambassador Emphasizes Trade Partnership with Pakistan

The Belarusian Ambassador to Pakistan, Andrei Metelitsa, highlighted the importance of expanding bilateral trade between Belarus and Pakistan. He mentioned that President Aleksandr Lukashenko of Belarus will soon visit Pakistan, and both countries are expected to sign multiple trade and economic cooperation agreements.

During his visit to the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), Ambassador Metelitsa stated that the current trade volume between Pakistan and Belarus stands at $60 million. However, he believes that there is significant potential for further growth.

The upcoming visit of President Lukashenko to Pakistan will serve as an opportunity to strengthen the existing partnership between the two countries. Several trade and economic agreements are expected to be signed during this visit.

Belarus exports heavy machinery, fertilizers, agricultural equipment, synthetic filament tow, chemicals, malt extract, and other products to Pakistan. On the other hand, it imports textiles, rice, citrus, leather apparel, leather footwear, and medical instruments from Pakistan.

Ambassador Metelitsa acknowledged the important role that chamber houses play in promoting ties among countries. He expressed his embassy’s willingness to collaborate with ICCI in identifying Belarusian and Pakistani businessmen who share common interests and objectives.

ICCI President Ahsan Zafar Bakhtawari described Belarus as a crucial country in Eastern Europe with which Pakistan’s Free Trade Agreement is inevitable. He stressed the need for exchanging business delegations to uncover the untapped potential of both countries. President Bakhtawari announced his intention to lead a delegation from ICCI to Belarus.

Zafar Bakhtawari, the Secretary General of the United Business Group, and Khalid Iqbal Malik, Chairman of the Founder Group ICCI, emphasized the importance of the private sector in strengthening trade ties between Pakistan and Belarus.

This development highlights the growing economic relations between the two countries and their commitment to furthering bilateral trade. As Pakistan and Belarus continue to explore new avenues of cooperation, the potential for mutual benefits and increased trade volume is immense.
