District Administration Cracks Down on Rice Hoarders, Seizes 4200 Bags During Ramazan

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 14th Mar, 2024) In an effort to combat hoarding and price gouging during the holy month of Ramazan, the district administration has seized 4200 bags of rice.

As instructed by the provincial government, the district administration has launched a crackdown on hoarders and profiteers who manipulate prices of essential commodities, causing undue burden on the public.

Acting on a tip-off, a special team led by Assistant Commissioner Dera Ismail Khan, Muhammad Faseeh Ishaq Abbasi, along with officials from the food department and the police, conducted a raid on a house located in Mohallah Alamsher. They successfully recovered 4200 bags of rice that were illegally stored. In addition, the team sealed the house and legal action has been initiated against the offenders.

Speaking about the operation, the assistant commissioner emphasized that all available resources will be utilized to provide maximum relief to citizens. He assured the public that strict action will be taken against food hoarders, stating that no one will be allowed to profit unjustly from hoarding and price hikes. He warned that anyone found involved in such unlawful activities will face severe consequences.

The assistant commissioner also urged the business community to refrain from profiteering and to cooperate with the administration in this endeavor. He encouraged citizens to report any instances of hoarding or price manipulation by contacting the Price Monitoring Desks set up in the city or by visiting his office.

This crackdown serves as a strong message to those who try to exploit the public during times of need. The district administration remains committed to ensuring the welfare of its citizens and will continue to take stern actions against such criminal activities.
