ja solar supplies 600mw of n-type pv modules to pakistani firms
JA Solar, a prominent solar module manufacturer, has been focusing on expanding its n-type module portfolio. Recently, the company introduced its first n-type module in 2022. To further enhance its n-type product offerings, JA Solar collaborated with German technical services provider TÜV NORD for research. The study concluded that JA Solar’s n-type modules generated 3.9% more energy than p-type PERC modules over a year. As a result, the company has actively been promoting its n-type modules and has achieved successful sales in Pakistan.
The latest addition to JA Solar’s n-type portfolio is the DeepBlue 4.0 Pro module, which boasts a maximum power output of 635MW and a power conversion efficiency of 22.8%. The recent deals in Pakistan demonstrate the success of JA Solar’s efforts to shift towards n-type products.
Although the Pakistani companies haven’t disclosed the specific use of the modules, the increased presence of Chinese modules in the Pakistani solar industry can potentially benefit the sector, which is eager to expand rapidly. In 2021, natural gas, oil, and coal dominated Pakistan’s energy mix, accounting for 29%, 19.9%, and 13.7% of the total energy supply, respectively. However, the government of Pakistan has set ambitious targets to fulfill 30% of the country’s energy demand with renewable sources by 2030.
This development is not only positive for JA Solar but also aligns with the company’s global expansion strategy. In the first half of the previous year, JA Solar achieved module sales of 23.95GW and added an additional 13.68GW in the third quarter. The company’s international sales are particularly noteworthy, accounting for 52% of total module sales in markets outside of China during the first nine months of 2023. Furthermore, JA Solar secured a deal to supply 150MW of modules for a solar project in Bangladesh in September, reflecting its growing interest in the southern Asian region.
Overall, JA Solar’s efforts to expand its n-type module portfolio and the recent success in the Pakistani market indicate the company’s commitment to providing innovative and efficient solar solutions on a global scale.
