Punjab Government Distributes Over One Million Ramadan Nigheban Hampers

Lahore, 12 March 2024 – In a bid to assist those in need during the holy month of Ramadan, the Chief Minister’s Ramadan Nigheban package has benefitted over one million families across Punjab. As part of the government’s efforts, hampers have been distributed to these families, providing them with essential supplies.

To ensure transparency and accuracy, the government has successfully verified 4.87 million families out of a total of 6.47 million families eligible for the package. District-wise, around 75 thousand hampers have been distributed in Lahore, over 70 thousand in Khanewal, and 63 thousand in Dera Ghazi Khan.

Moreover, digital monitoring of the distribution process is being carried out, with daily reports being sent to the Chief Minister’s office. This allows for effective oversight and timely intervention, if needed.

Taking a proactive approach, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has directed the authorities to ensure that all needy individuals receive their ‘Ramadan Nigheban hampers’ by the 10th day of Ramadan. In addition, she emphasized the importance of including home delivery information in the dashboard, further streamlining the distribution process.

Each Ramadan Nigheban Relief hamper contains essential food items, including 10 kilograms of flour, 2 kilograms of rice, 2 kilograms of sugar, 2 kilograms of ghee, and 2 kilograms of besan. The administration, along with the Punjab Food Authority, is committed to ensuring the quality of these food items in the hampers.

The government’s efforts in distributing the Ramadan Nigheban hampers aim to alleviate the financial burden on vulnerable families during the holy month. By providing them with essential supplies, the government hopes to contribute to a more comfortable and fulfilling Ramadan experience for those in need.
