pakistan food group exports to reach $7 billion by FY24, says TDAP CEO
Chief Executive of the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), Muhammad Zubair Motiwala, recently visited the Pakistan Pavilion at the Gulf Food Exhibition in Dubai. During his visit, Motiwala interacted with exhibitors and praised their efforts in promoting exports of Pakistani products.
The TDAP has been working to enhance exports of food and food-related items, which has resulted in a significant increase in exports in this sector. Motiwala projected that exports of food items will surpass $7 billion by the end of the financial year, compared to the previous annual exports of around $4 billion.
Motiwala also highlighted the notable increase in exports of sesame seeds, which have seen a growth of 300 to 400 percent this year. Additionally, exports of Pakistani rice are expected to reach $3 billion, compared to the previous figure of $1.5 billion.
The Chief Executive emphasized that increasing exports is crucial for achieving economic prosperity and that the TDAP is actively contributing to this objective. He expressed delight in the growing number of Pakistani exhibitors at the Gulf Food exhibition and the positive response they have received from importers and investors.
During the visit, Motiwala met with Saudi Food’s Chief Organizer and the Commercial Director Events Management of Dubai World Trade Centre to discuss Pakistani products’ participation in the upcoming Fresh Fruits & Vegetables Exhibition. He also met with the organizing committee of Dubai World Trade Centre to secure more space for Pakistan in future exhibitions.
A total of 100 Pakistani exhibitors are participating in the Gulf Food festival, with 45 sponsored by the TDAP. The Chief Executive was accompanied by senior officials from Pakistan’s Diplomatic Mission in the UAE.
