Muhammad Zubair Motiwala, Chief Executive of the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), recently visited the Pakistan Pavilion at the Gulfood Exhibition in Dubai. During his visit, Motiwala interacted with exhibitors and commended their efforts in promoting exports.

One of the main focuses of Pakistan’s export strategy has been on enhancing the food and food allied items sector. This strategic focus has resulted in a substantial increase in exports in this sector, with projections indicating that food item exports will surpass $7 billion by the end of the financial year. This represents a significant increase compared to the previous annual exports of about $4 billion in the food sector.

Motiwala highlighted the remarkable growth in exports of sesame seeds, which have increased by 300 to 400% this year. He also emphasized that exports of Pakistani rice are expected to exceed $3 billion, compared to the previous figure of $1.5 billion.

The Chief Executive expressed his satisfaction with the increasing number of Pakistani exhibitors at the Gulfood Exhibition, indicating the growing participation of Pakistani exporters in this major food event. He also met with organizers of the Saudi Food and Dubai World Trade Centre’s Fresh Fruits & Vegetables Exhibition, discussing opportunities for Pakistani products to participate in future exhibitions.

Motiwala stated that his purpose in attending the exhibition was to listen to valuable inputs from exhibitors and seek ways to further improve exports. He expressed his delight at the positive response that Pakistani participants have received from potential importers and investors at the exhibition.

The Gulfood Exhibition features 100 Pakistani exhibitors, with 45 of them sponsored by TDAP. Other exhibitors are participating on a self-sponsorship basis. Motiwala was accompanied by senior officials from Pakistan’s Diplomatic Mission in the UAE.

Overall, the visit to the Pakistan Pavilion at Gulfood Exhibition highlights the efforts made by Pakistan to boost its exports in the food sector. With increased participation and positive responses from potential buyers and investors, Pakistan is well on its way to achieving economic prosperity through enhanced exports.
