Marsh store sale to KennMar completed
The opening of a grocery and hardware store on Nichol Avenue in Anderson has cleared its final legal hurdle. KennMar development has officially closed on the property and taken ownership. The Anderson Economic Development Department received a $500,000 payment for the purchase of the former Marsh store, while KennMar spent $423,541 on interior demolition work. The plan is to transform the former Marsh store into a Needler’s Fresh Market and Ace Hardware, with the addition of a drug store. The project is expected to cost $1.5 million, with the Anderson Redevelopment Commission providing $7.2 million in funding for store upgrades. The developers must commit to operating the stores for a minimum of 10 years. The deadline for opening is July 1, 2024.
