Fruits have also experienced a reasonable price hike. According to the latest weekly inflation report from the Pakistan Statistical Institute, the inflation rate for the week ending on January 11, 2024, has surged by 16.44 percent compared to the same period last year, marking a 01.36 percent increase from the previous week.

The report analyzes prices in 17 major cities across the country for 51 items. Out of these, 21 items witnessed an increase, 8 saw a decrease, and 22 remained stable.

Among the notable increases were onions, tomatoes, eggs, bananas, various dals, meat, chicken, rice, firewood, and LPG cylinders.

However, some items saw a decrease in prices, including potatoes, cooking oil, vegetable ghee, mung dal, garlic, sugar, and mustard oil.

Despite the fluctuations, there was stability in the prices of various food items, clothing, energy, and daily essentials. This reflects the economic challenges faced by the public in Pakistan.
