Russian Cabinet Extends Rice Export Ban until June 30, 2024
Moscow, Dec 30 – The Russian government has decided to extend the ban on the export of rice and rice groats until June 30, 2024. This move is aimed at maintaining stability in the domestic market. The ban, which was initially imposed on July 29, prevented the export of rice and rice groats until December 31, 2023. However, with the new extension, the ban will remain in effect for an additional six months.
The Russian government believes that this extension is crucial for ensuring stability in the domestic market. A statement released by the government said, “Russia is extending the temporary ban on the export of rice and rice groats until June 30, 2024. The decision was taken to maintain stability in the domestic market.”
In addition to the extension of the ban, the government has also implemented quotas for duty-free exports of grain crops from certain regions in Russia. These regions include the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics, as well as the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions. The quotas for duty-free exports will be in effect until December 31, 2024.
It’s important to note that the ban will not affect member countries of the Eurasian Economic Union, South Ossetia, and Abkhazia. Furthermore, rice and rice groats can still be sent abroad as humanitarian aid and as part of international transit transportation.
This new extension of the ban on rice exports demonstrates the Russian government’s commitment to maintaining stability in the domestic market. It is a strategic move to ensure a steady supply of rice and rice groats within the country.
