Shipping activity increases at Port Qasim

In the past 24 hours, the Port Qasim Authority (PQA) in Karachi has witnessed the arrival of several ships. Five ships, namely MSC Jemima, MSC Greenwich, Maersk Chicago, Meratus Jayawijaya, and Ardmore Cherokee, have docked at the Container Terminal and Liquid Terminal. These ships are carrying a variety of goods, including containers and palm oil.
In addition, two more ships, FMT Efes, and Eget Bulker have arrived at the outer anchorage area of the port. These ships are carrying Coko and chemicals.
During the same period, a total of 11 ships were occupied at PQA berths. One of these ships, a chemicals carrier named Horizon, departed from the port on Wednesday morning. Four more ships, namely Umm Al-Amad, Maersk Chicago, MSC Jemima, and BP Pioneer-1, are expected to set sail later today.
The port has handled a cargo volume of 211,200 tonnes in the past 24 hours. This includes 155,509 tonnes of imported cargo and 55,691 tonnes of export cargo. Furthermore, a total of 6,605 containers were processed (4,428 TEUs for imports and 2,177 TEUs for exports).
Currently, there are 13 ships at the Outer Anchorage of Port Qasim. Among them, three ships, namely Hai Phuong, Egret Bulker, and Golden Denise, will be involved in loading/offloading rice, coke, chemicals, and containers. These ships are expected to dock at MW-1, PIBT, EVTL, and QICT on Wednesday.
Overall, the port is witnessing significant activity with the arrival and departure of multiple ships carrying various goods. This bustling environment reflects the thriving trade and commerce in the region.
