Matco Foods opens corn sugar plant in Karachi- boosting production capacity
Matco Foods Limited, a leading rice exporter in Pakistan, has recently commenced operations at its new plant that produces dextrose monohydrate, a type of corn sugar commonly used in the food and beverage industry. Situated in the Super Highway Industrial Area, Karachi, the plant has a production capacity of 4,000 metric tons annually.
In a filing to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), Matco Foods announced that the plant’s construction was completed within a span of 14 months and underwent meticulous testing and inspection prior to its commissioning. This noteworthy project not only generated employment opportunities but also facilitated foreign exchange earnings through exports.
Dextrose monohydrate is a natural monosaccharide and carbohydrate that serves as a sweetener, thickener, and bulking agent in a wide range of products. While specializing in the processing and export of rice, rice protein, rice glucose, pink salt, condiments, spices, dessert mixes, and more, Matco Foods operates five processing plants and distributes its products to over 65 countries under the popular brand name “Falak.”
