Port Qasim, one of Pakistan’s major maritime hubs, experienced busy shipping operations on Wednesday. Three significant vessels, GCL Lazaro, Al-Dayyan, and Ardmore Engineer, arrived at the Bulk Terminal, Elengy Terminal, and Oil Terminal, respectively. These ships carried coal, LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas), and gas oil, contributing to the port’s dynamic maritime landscape.

In addition to these arrivals, the oil tanker Hafnia Tagus anchored at the outer anchorage of the port, carrying 26,997 tonnes of gas oil. This further amplified the maritime traffic and trade activities at Port Qasim.

Within the last 24 hours, the port saw a total of eight ships berthing at Port Qasim Authority (PQA) berths. Notably, the container vessel MSC Ellen departed the port on Thursday morning, and two more ships, Ardmore Engineer and African Dove, are scheduled to set sail in the afternoon.

During this period, the port handled a cargo throughput of 187,374 tonnes, including 139,491 tonnes of imported cargo and 47,883 tonnes of export cargo. This included containerized goods transported in 2,636 containers, reflecting the diverse range of commodities passing through the port.

Meanwhile, eleven ships were observed at the Outer Anchorage of Port Qasim. Three vessels, BD Pioneer, Hafnia Tagus, and Seaspan Beacon, along with Navios Lapis, are expected to load or unload rice, gas oil, and containers. These ships are scheduled to take berths at MW-1, FOTCO, and QICT on Thursday. The container vessel Big Breezy is also anticipated to arrive at Port Qasim on Friday, adding to the ongoing maritime activities.

The diverse cargo handled at Port Qasim highlights its role as a vital gateway for imports and exports, connecting Pakistan to the global trade network. The constant flow of vessels and the variety of goods being transported demonstrate the port’s efficiency and importance in facilitating international trade.

The maritime community continues to closely monitor the shipping activities at Port Qasim, recognizing its strategic significance in the regional economic landscape. As vessels load and unload various commodities, the port remains a key player in fostering trade and contributing to the overall economic growth of Pakistan.
