Shipping Activity Ramps up at Port Qasim
KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 17th Nov, 2023) In the past 24 hours, the Port Qasim Authority has been busy with various ship activities. Two ships, Lucky River and Maritime Nordic, have berthed at the Multipurpose Terminal and Liquid Terminal to load and offload Rice and Palm oil. Additionally, five more ships have arrived at the outer anchorage of the port to handle the transportation of Rice, Cement, Wheat, LNG, and Gas oil.
At the PQA berths, a total of five ships have been engaged, with one bulk cargo carrier leaving the port after loading 31,500 tonnes of cement. The port has achieved a cargo throughput of 56,355 tonnes in the last 24 hours. This consists of 14,122 tonnes of import cargo and 42,233 tonnes of export cargo.
Currently, there are 13 ships at the Outer Anchorage of Port Qasim. Among them, two ships named Berg Jungfrau and Umm Bab are expected to berth at MW-2 and carry steel coil. Additionally, three more ships, Maersk Pelepas, Big Breezy, and Limra, will berth at PGPCL, QICT, and EVTL to transport LNG, Containers, and LPG. The anticipated arrival of these ships is scheduled for Friday.
