sugar and rice warehouses closed in Mansehra
The Mansehra district administration and food department have taken strict action against hoarders of sugar and rice in an effort to maintain price stability and prevent artificial price hikes. As part of the crackdown, several godowns in Thakra and surrounding areas were sealed, and a smuggler was apprehended.
According to Shaukat Sultan, the assistant district food controller, the crackdown was initiated to ensure that the prices of essential commodities remain at reasonable levels. The district price control and review committee, headed by deputy commissioner Shahid Rao, had recently fixed the prices.
To carry out the operation, a joint team led by Shaukat Sultan and assistant commissioner Ali Imtiaz conducted raids on various godowns. They discovered large quantities of rice and sugar bags, which were seized as evidence. Additionally, buildings were sealed to prevent further hoarding activities.
During the operation, a smuggler named Abdul Raheem was caught and taken into custody. He was later transferred to the local police station for further legal proceedings.
This crackdown sends a clear message to hoarders and smugglers that the authorities are committed to ensuring fair market practices and preventing artificial price inflation. Such actions are necessary to protect the interests of consumers and maintain stability in the food market.
