A delegation from the United States recently visited the Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, Pakistan. This is the same prison where former prime minister Imran Khan is currently serving his sentence. The delegation consisted of Greg Edward, Robert Franklin, Donald Szolomeyer, Mark Rice, and Peter Rich. During their visit, they had the opportunity to meet with Christian prisoners and inquire about their well-being. The jail officials also provided the delegation with a briefing on the facilities available at the prison.

It is worth noting that Shah Mahmood Qureshi, the former foreign minister of Pakistan, was also held in the Adiala Jail along with Imran Khan. Last month, Khan was transferred from Attock Jail to Adiala Jail. However, his lawyer stated that this transfer was carried out without his consent.

In another development, US Ambassador to Pakistan, Donald Blome, paid a visit to Multan. During his visit, he made a stop at the historic tomb of Shah Shams Tabraiz, an iconic landmark in the city. The US Consulate General Lahore highlighted the US government’s commitment to preserving cultural heritage in Pakistan, citing their involvement in the restoration of 32 cultural sites in the country.

During a meeting with Multan Division Commissioner, Amir Khattak, Ambassador Blome discussed the development priorities of the region. This included areas such as health and education, as well as opportunities for collaboration through the US-Pakistan ‘Green Alliance’ Framework. This framework aims to address shared climate and environmental challenges.
