Pakistan’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan Holds Meeting with FPCCI President
Ambassador of Pakistan to Azerbaijan, Bilal Hayee, recently visited the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) Regional office in Lahore to discuss various areas of cooperation between the two countries. The meeting, which was attended by President FPCCI Irfan Iqbal Sheikh, aimed to enhance collaboration in trade, investment, technology, and the exchange of business delegations.
During the meeting, Bilal Hayee highlighted that Azerbaijan has abolished the duty on importing rice from Pakistan, presenting a significant opportunity for Pakistani rice exporters. He urged exporters to focus on sectors with high demand, such as pharmaceutical products, to further increase exports to Azerbaijan. The ambassador emphasized that Azerbaijan is eager to promote bilateral trade with Pakistan, as both countries have immense potential for economic cooperation in sectors like agriculture, industry, tourism, mining, and hospitality.
Irfan Iqbal Sheikh, President FPCCI, stressed the importance of Business-to-Business (B2B) and People-to-People (P2P) linkages in fostering bilateral trade, investment, and economic cooperation. He mentioned that Azerbaijan can benefit from Pakistan’s expertise and competitive rates in textiles, fruits, rice, surgical goods, pharmaceuticals, and IT. Sheikh recognized the existing strong political relations between Azerbaijan and Pakistan but highlighted that their trade and economic relations are not at their full potential. Therefore, he emphasized the need to prioritize and promote trade relations between the two countries for mutual economic benefits.
Muhammad Nadeem Qureshi, Regional Chairman, and Vice Presidents Mian Anjum Nisar and Riffat Malik were also present at the meeting. Qureshi extended gratitude to the Azerbaijan government for abolishing duties on Pakistani rice exports, making it easier for the commodity to reach this friendly country.
