Pakistan’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan Holds Meeting with FPCCI President

Ambassador of Pakistan to Azerbaijan, Bilal Hayee, recently visited the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) Regional office in Lahore to meet with President FPCCI Irfan Iqbal Sheikh. The objective of the meeting was to discuss various areas of cooperation between the two countries, including trade, investment, technology, and exchange of business delegations.

During the meeting, Bilal Hayee announced that Azerbaijan has eliminated the duty on importing rice from Pakistan, making it a lucrative market for Pakistani rice exporters. He also highlighted the high demand for pharmaceutical products in Azerbaijan and encouraged Pakistani exporters to focus on this sector to boost exports.

Both Pakistan and Azerbaijan expressed their interest in promoting bilateral trade and economic cooperation. They identified agriculture, industry, tourism, mining, and hospitality as potential areas for collaboration. The ambassador emphasized the immense potential of Pakistani pharmaceutical companies in the Azerbaijani market.

President FPCCI Irfan Iqbal Sheikh emphasized the importance of B2B and P2P linkages in translating into bilateral trade, investment, and economic cooperation. He suggested that Azerbaijan could benefit from Pakistan’s textiles, fruits, rice, surgical goods, pharmaceuticals, and IT expertise at competitive rates. While the two countries enjoy good political relations, there is room for improvement in trade and economic relations.

Nadeem Qureshi, the Regional Chairman, expressed gratitude to the Azerbaijan government for abolishing duties on Pakistani rice. This decision will facilitate the export of rice from Pakistan to Azerbaijan, strengthening the friendly ties between the two countries.
