High Commissioner of Kenya Assures Rice Exporters of Strengthening Trade Relations with Pakistan

During a visit to the Rice Exporters Association of Pakistan (REAP) House, the High Commissioner of Kenya, Nyambura Kamau, expressed her gratitude for the warm welcome by exporters and assured them that the bottlenecks in the promotion of trade between Pakistan and Kenya will be addressed. She stated that the authorities of both countries will work together to identify and resolve any issues that may hinder trade. The Kenyan government will be involved in finding solutions for the benefit of traders from Pakistan and Kenya.

Chairman of REAP, Chela Ram Kewlani, highlighted the friendly and cooperative relations that Pakistan maintains with all rice buying countries. He emphasized that Pakistan has always been a reliable supplier of rice and has played a significant role in food security, particularly in Africa. Unlike India, which occasionally imposes restrictions on rice exports, Pakistan has consistently exported rice to its trading partners. The trade relations between Kenya and Pakistan are based on mutual respect and cooperation, and Pakistani exporters strive to maintain strong trade relations.

Kenya is Pakistan’s largest trading partner in Africa, and Pakistan is one of the top importers of Kenyan tea. Chela Ram Kewlani acknowledged the existing opportunities to further strengthen trade and economic relations between the two nations. He believed that the High Commissioner’s visit to both countries would contribute to enhancing trade and economic ties.

Abdul Rahim Janoo, Ex-Chairman of REAP, emphasized the importance of the Kenyan market for Pakistani rice exporters and praised the longstanding trading relations between the two countries. Rafique Suleman, Convener of REAP Kenya Committee, briefed the High Commissioner about the current challenges faced by Pakistani rice exporters when exporting to Kenya and requested her assistance in resolving these issues.

During the event, REAP presented its Shield as well as Sindhi Ajrak and caps to all the officials of the Kenyan High Commission as a gesture of appreciation.

Overall, the visit of the High Commissioner of Kenya to REAP House signifies the commitment to strengthen trade relations between Pakistan and Kenya. The engagement between the two nations is crucial for promoting economic growth and expanding the export opportunities for Pakistani rice exporters.
