High Commissioner of Kenya Assures Rice Exporters of Enhancing Trade Relations with Pakistan
In a meeting held at the Rice Exporters Association of Pakistan (REAP) House, the High Commissioner of Kenya, Nyambura Kamau, expressed her gratitude for the warm welcome by Pakistani rice exporters. During the meeting, she assured the exporters that she would work towards removing any hurdles in the promotion of trade between Pakistan and Kenya.
Speaking at the meeting, Chela Ram Kewlani, Chairman of REAP, highlighted that Pakistan has always maintained friendly and cooperative relations with all rice buying countries. He emphasized that Pakistan has been a reliable and trustworthy supplier of rice and has played a crucial role in ensuring food security, especially in the African region.
Addressing the gathering, Abdul Rahim Janoo, Ex-Chairman of REAP, mentioned that Kenya is one of the most important rice export markets for Pakistani traders. He added that the two countries have enjoyed excellent and long-standing trading relations.
Rafique Suleman, Convener of REAP Kenya Committee, discussed the current issues faced by Pakistani rice exporters while exporting to Kenya. He requested the High Commissioner of Kenya to play her role in resolving these issues.
The meeting concluded with Chela Ram Kewlani and Rafique Suleman presenting REAP’s Shield and Sindhi Ajrak caps to all the officials of the Kenyan High Commission.
Kenya is Pakistan’s largest trading partner in Africa, and Pakistan is one of the top importers of Kenyan tea. Both countries aim to strengthen their trade and economic relations further. The visit of the High Commissioner is seen as a valuable asset in enhancing these ties.
