Alvi praises COAS and interim government for investment efforts

President Dr Arif Alvi praised the efforts of the caretaker federal government and Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir in attracting foreign investment to strengthen Pakistan’s economy. He commended the decision-making of the army chief and the interim government, stating that the country is moving towards economic stability.

Speaking at the 15th Rice Exporters Association of Pakistan (REAP) Recognition Ceremony in Karachi, President Alvi acknowledged the potential of the business community to fortify Pakistan’s economy. He congratulated REAP on transforming exports from $300 million to $3 billion and encouraged members to explore joint-ventures and prioritize the development of value-added rice products.

President Alvi praised the concept of the “Biryani Festival” and invited REAP to organize the festival at the President House. He also called for the revitalization of rice research institutions to strengthen Pakistan’s presence in the global market.

In response to REAP’s request, President Alvi proposed the establishment of market-oriented institutions through collaboration between the government and REAP. He emphasized the importance of empowering women through employment and providing quality education.

Sindh Governor Mohammed Kamran Khan Tessori recognized rice as the second-largest export of the country and commended the COAS for combating ‘economic’ and border terrorism. He expressed optimism regarding the enhancement of law and order and urged the world to stand in support of the Palestinians.

REAP Chairman Chela Ram Kewlani highlighted the association’s role in the country’s economy and the international recognition of Pakistani rice as a high-quality brand. He urged the president to officially designate rice as an industry and raised concerns about the Minimum Export Price (MEP) of rice.

President Alvi and Governor Tessori presented awards and trophies to honor the top rice exporters.
